Note that although clearcutting greatly harms bio-diversity, other 'even-aged' logging methods approved of by the State and commonly practiced can be as damaging to biodiversity as clearcutting is, depending upon their application: seed tree cutting -- almost all the trees are removed (only a few are left to reseed a forest), and shelterwood cutting -- medium-age and mature trees are removed.
